Four times a year the foundations in collaboration with Interplast organise medical teams, composed of plastic and maxillo-facial surgeons, anaesthetists, scrub nurses and anaesthetic nurses, to come to Sokoto and perform major surgical interventions on Noma patients. They usually come in the months of March, May, September and November and stay for about two weeks. All major plastic surgical operations up to microvascular free flaps are being performed in Noma Children Hospital. The preparation of the patients as well as the aftercare is at the charge of the hospital. This teams come an a humanitarian base and treatment is entirely free of charge.
